Serph - Berserk(ReduceyouDevour)

(no subject)

Each change came in unexpected spurts, spread out over time. Initially there had been the sense of someone watching, some benign yet persistent outside force with a constant glaring eye observing his every move. In time, Serph had lost the ability to dismiss it as paranoia or a ridiculous bit of nonsense. It became very real. Sleep would not come. How could he sleep knowing there was something out there watching the Embryon's leader? To dismiss it now would put the others in danger, yet he dared not tell them about it. Were they in on it? Perhaps they were thinking that there was no need for him in this brave new world. Thoughts like these circled his complex mind as the moon rose and fell again and again.

It certainly did not help that an aching pain in his jaw developed from something that could have easily been labeled a tooth-ache into something was unquestionably a problem in his bones. It felt as though his teeth no longer fit in his human mouth. The pain of his body as it did ... something to the bones of his mandible reverberated through his skull until it took started to ache, just above his white eyebrows. It was there, staring at himself in the mirror for the fifth time that day, he notices the change happening to his hair.

Usually a perfectly normal shade of light gray, Serph hair was blanching into a milk white. It was not the strand-by-strand random discovery of one or two instances of a disappointing sign of old age, but the spreading of some kind of bleach from the roots of every single hair on his body. Serph had counted. Being unable to find even one singular unaffected hair no matter how thoroughly he looked was the undeniable sign that this ... infection would not release him from its grasp.

For once, Serph was at a complete loss. He knew one person who might hold an answer, but he could not ask for her help. As time passed, Serph chose not to involve the other members of the Embryon. His last encounter with Argilla and Heat had shown that they too were becoming something 'other', and would have no more answers than he. It would be pointless to seek out Gale's exemplary scientific mind; if he knew anything, he would have shared it. Or so Serph hoped to think still held true despite everything.

When the joint in his arm felt as though they were ripping and spreading, the thought of Varna being changed as well spread a fear unlike any other rippling over his pale skin. It took weeks to decide. Weeks of careful planning and consideration to find a place, and fail-safes to test what was happening to his Atma. Serph sought the most isolated place available, and transformed into his demonic form.

The pain was wretched. What normally took seconds seemed to take a full hour, yet that was an illusion of perception. His skin burned with cold, as though each of his cells were being stopped from movement and then prodded violently to become something foreign. His mouth cracked in an unnatural way even for this blasphemous transformation. He could feel hardened tissue inside the folds of his arms, bone or some sort of cartilage mass, he couldn't focus enough to tell. His mind screamed in hunger, a ceaseless repeat of the familiar refrain to devour, devour, devour all!

A day later, Serph was still forced to massage his feet and arms for relief from the pain. Drugs were simply not an option, it was unknowable what effect they could have. Sleep itself was no sanctuary; his dreams were filled with the taste of meat, the gnawing craving to rip and chew the thick flesh of anything set before Varna's blank eyes. One night, it became necessary to tie himself down as best as possible to prevent the partial transformation of his hands. They tore at himself and the bed without reason, without control.

A month passed again, or so he assumed, having not left his apartment for some time. It was now he was grateful to his past self for not having injected Gale's solution to their hungry little problem. He had kept every dose, but had converted them into bullets should a day ever come...strange that that day was today, and the enemy was himself. It was the only way to quell his raging hunger. After a time, as was inevitable... he ran out. Fearful of what would happen should two Atma in the same condition espy each other, he could not go to Gale for more. He wondered vaguely what was happening to them. It was a strange sensation, to be so far from them in this crisis. Truly, it was the first time in his life that he had felt so alone.

Eventually, Serph had no choice. The pain and hunger tore at his mind and body. It was hunt, or lose control. He sought an isolated world, one that bore the brunt of a senseless war, and became a weapon of God to the history of that place. The events of that day were shockingly brutal even to those who had been at war for decades. A monster, a demon emerged from the depths of Hell ripped apart all who stood in his path regardless of race or alliance. When it left, as they prayed with all combined might, there was little but a river of filthy blood and chunks of discarded human meat left on the battlefield.

Satisfied for a time, Serph slept. At last. He had not had such a comfortable, warm and full sleep for months. The disappointment that such a feeling could not last stayed for the next few days. Thinking on that emotion, he realized that his thoughts were sluggish. They came slowly, only after a great deal of effort. In a somewhat panicked state, Serph attempted to recite mathematical problems, and found the answers eluded him.

Another month passed, and Serph could barely move. His body was weak from the onslaught of change, and his mind could only circle around the recurring physical sensations of pain and hunger. In time, there was nothing that could stop what would happen next. Not one hope for salvation remained in Serph's mind. When Varna came to him one last time, he could no longer resist.

A starving beast roared with triumph, now free to take its fill! The echo of Varna's scream heralded his arrival to the place it knew would offer hundreds of meals: The Nexus.

Serph - Bordered

Open to anyone in/near Mayfair Apt.

Serph had a dual purpose in acquiring a contract with Miss Hollister for an apartment. Primarily, he needed a home of his own, but more specifically, it needed to be a place near his comrades. Lately (since the visit to that other Junkyard) he increasingly felt there was something amiss. Everything felt wrong. That feeling was not limited to physical reactions (increase in appetite, insomnia, unexplained bruises) but extended to include various considerations which focused on the activities of each member of the Embryon. As such, Serph had decided the correct path would be to gather information through observation. Was this all a strange, twisting scheme to undermine him? Perhaps the faceless woman couldn't be trusted after all. Maybe Cielo was acting silly all along.

Currently, Serph is on the roof of the apartment building installing a wiring system through the vents to record conversations within. His handgun is present. Just in case.

Plot synopsis
Gale
Heat
Heat 2
Victoria
Cielo
Argilla
Argilla 2

Et voila, Serph's version. Please note I prefer to play things out rather than detail them through an outline, so this is very skimpy. Forgive me ;o;

Stage One: or, bitch are you for real?
Serph: will ramp up his stalker/controlling tendencies, but it will be limited to the embryon-tatchi. Will be less able to conceal lies, specifically that he's taking the vorapate and not eating people. :9
Atma: Joint pain, specifically in the arms. Bleeding when opening up, bruises that transfer to Serph's skin.

Stage Two: or, call Dr. House
Serph: Irrational behavior. Inability to control emotions such as guilt, affection or logical deductions. Sort of like how teenagers act all stupid without meaning to. But in a creepy way!
Atma: TMJ pain that eventually leads to a widening of his jaw reach (or whatever you want to call that) but immediatly limits it, making eating more frustrating. Growth of bone stubs on ... the arm thingies, do those have a name? Ditto for the points of Varna's 'crown'.

Stage Three: or, I think it's serious
Serph: Emotionally shutting down due to unprocessable overload. Apathy is a GO. Hair color will resemble ice more than milk, leaning on insect-like transperancy.
Atma: Colors will brighten towards the blue of his atma in the following locations:
"What became of his (the Cosmic Spirit's) face or mouth? What became of his two arms? What became of His two thighs? What were (the products of) the two feet called? From His face (or the mouth) came the brahmanas. From His two arms came the rajanya (the kshatriyas). From His two thighs came the vaishyas. From His two feet came the shudras."
The yellow on his stomach will extend to his thighs, and ankles, while the black 'tears' will be blue, as well as his lips (cold reference).

Stage Four: or, look what you did to me you bastard
Serph: Extreme lack of movement/thoughts/activity. Think hibernation.
Atma: No transformations plz.

Stage Five: or, it's a boy/girl?
Serph: Softening, more peaceful personality. Drops obsession with control. Depending on how long it takes to play this plot out (a whole year?) I'll probably change my mind about that. :'D

Atma: The arm-extensions are longer, and now have prongs extenting from a new joint. I've got a pictures of it somewhere, to be added later. Crown is spiked and sharp and able to gut people by headbutting. Ditto for the chest armor, which has become transparent and has the sort of rainbow effect like when they first transform. Think dragonfly wings, but more durable. Emphasis on colors. Feet have become more hoof-like.

I suppose that's it? I'll add more stuff or change this depending on what I think up in the future. Thanks guys, feedback is more than welcome.

Re: New Munship

OOC:
I'll be doing some editing like adding icons, changing the layout, and things of that nature. This here is a courtesy note to indicate for the future that everything below this post was written by [info]fidchell and everything above it by [info]0x.

I hope we can work together~! I'm sorry in advance for my terrible memory, and also for not knowing all of Serph's personal relationships that have been built so far. So if he doesn't remember knowing details about your pup...aahh just write it off, okay? ^^;

OOC - Character Is Dropped

Alright, this has been going in my head for the last couple weeks and after several conversations that happened this week, I finally came to a decision.

I'm dropping Serph.

The reasons for this decision are many, some are related to RP environment and others are personal. I won't bother listing them all, I'll just say that the downsides of playing this character are heavily outdoing the upsides. It's at the point where writing and drabbling for him is no longer fun, and fun is what RP is about. Thus, I'm doing the smart thing.

If anyone wants to ask me something, you all know where to find me. I'm still sticking to the rest of my cast.

All the best wishes to the rest of the group, and good luck finding a replacement.

EDIT: Not to worry, my lads, the replacement hath been found! From now on, Isamu-mun is taking over this journal. Hope you all have fun. :3

Christmas Presents

(( Somewhat belated, but... :D ))

For Christmas, Serph received lots of camera equipment. Clearly, everyone is implying that his stalking skills are losing edge. Just you wait, Embryon! This year, he'll show you what stalking truly means! B|

*ahem* Anyway...

Electronic Journal Entry

[ For future reference, Serph does not trust people. Unless you're ranked among the Embryon or are close enough friends that Serph would hear lots of good things about you, you can't see his journal. Otherwise, everything goes. ]

[ Note that Roland and Vic are both recorded as members of the Embryon. One day, Serph will sew them pretty grey uniforms with orange splatters somewhere. ]

I located an unusual portal within the Nexus.

The portal tends to shift locations within the area. It leads to a mansion-like structure. Main hall's investigation revealed documents that indicate demonic influence in the building. They imply the area to be extremely dangerous for an unprepared traveler.

Tribe members are advised to stay away until further notice. If the mansion appears before you, leave. I'll investigate the area, ensure it's safe and report then.

Narrative Post

Things We Miss, I : Rainmaker )

(( Here's the narrative I promised to Sera-mun! I know it took a while to post, but I'm very pleased with the results. :3 ))

(( Also, while this is numbered as I, there won't be a II for Serph. Instead, I'm plotting to post a narrative like this for every long-running char of mine. So Abe, Aya, Ether and Yuri will get parts II to V. ))

OOC - Personality Breakdown

This is the first OOC post I'm doing on this journal. Ominous. :O

...And it's me ranting about the character. Because Serph has no visible personality in canon, this will be me trying to analyze what personality he does have. This is partially to give him more of a personality, and partially to help me figure out where I want to go with him... As opposed to the current nowhere.

Now, I'm warning ahead - I play Serph the way I responded with him while playing DDS. I refused to betray the Maribel, refused to attack Heat in the amusement park and my response during the mansion query was "It doesn't matter.". Finally, in the end of DDS2, I had Heat in my party.

Spoilers ahead. )

Well, this is it. Serph is one of the chars I had problems figuring out. I had to read into the cutscenes pretty hard. :B

Serph - Leader

(no subject)

If one paid attention during the 'celebration' in Rebecca's Raccoon City, they might've noticed that the tribe was short one person. Gale, Heat and Jor were around, but... What about Serph? Where was he, considering that he spent the entire battle near his comrades? Did he go home earlier?

The small table in Embryon's apartment on Earth-616 is telling a different story.

Piled on that table, are countless photographs. All of them are events from the battle's aftermath. There's the RPD chief's interview, complete with Hunnigan getting in his way. Hippolyta arguing with David about shooting said chief. There are Embryon members boasting about their hair in front of teenagers, David hugging Rebecca and Claire punching Chris. There's Kevin hugging Katsuya, as the young man's face is frozen in pain. There's Regina sitting on the sidewalk and smoking her cigarette. There's Ether grooving to the music going out of a boombox brought by a gang of teenagers. There are even Derek and Henry, who left faster than everyone. And there are countless other photos, picturing almost every event that happened on that street in Raccoon City, Colorado.

All photos sport great angles, timing and lighting. The emotions of the moment are captured perfectly. Whoever made those, is an expert.

Serph sits in the armchair next to the table, slowly sorting through the photos. He's already seen them all, but another look won't hurt.

Serph - Leader

(no subject)

When you meet Serph the first time, it's surprising that he's one holding the title of the Embryon's leader. He's quiet, small and rarely does anything... In fact, he barely has a presence to speak of. He doesn't need it. Without it, it's easier for him to lurk in the background, unnoticeable even by his allies. This way, he can make sure that no one is hurt, his friends are happy and the tribe has no problems... And if problems do show up, he's there to fix them.

When you meet Serph for the first time, it's hard to realize that sometimes, all this young man wants is a day when he doesn't have to plan ten steps forward every minute.

Today is one of those days. Today, Serph leaves the tribe's apartment and goes to a park not too far from it. After the grey, lifeless Junkyard, the presence of trees is still strange to him... Strange, calming and somehow refreshing. Perhaps, it's because plants remind him that in this world, there's life beyond humans and demons fighting for survival. Life that exists for life, not war and struggle. One tiny step away from the Junkyard... One step closer to Nirvana.

Despite considering himself off duty, Serph doesn't abandon his precious uniform - instead, he conceals it beneath a simple grey coat. Not that his appearance doesn't get an occasional curious stare without it. It's not every day that men with silver hair and strange tattoos on their faces show up in the middle of New York. Hanuman, the small robotic monstrosity of a dog that trails behind Serph, doesn't help either. On occasion, a curious passerby approaches him with a question about the creature's origin. They're given two very meaningful words as an answer. 'Japanese import'.

Other than that, Serph isn't busy with anything. He simply trails up and down the park roads, his expression relaxed and almost... Serene. He's not thinking about anything - he does too much of that usually. Today, he's recharging his batteries.

(( Open thread. Despite Serph's activities, you're welcome to locate and bother him as much as you want. Just be warned. On his day off, he may be a little less prone to ellipsis. ))

Serph - Leader

(no subject)

The last several weeks passed calmly for Serph... Or so would an outside observer say. Truth be told, it's simply because the tribe's leader doesn't like to make himself noticeable. Instead, he prefers to lurk in the background and show up to provide advice only when required. That's how he lived in the Junkyard, and that's how he tries to live in the Nexus.

Except that in the Nexus, it's not so easy. With no more war to keep them together, it's much harder to keep track of the Embryon's activities... And with all the new experiences, it's much harder to be a good adviser. In a way, Serph is happy about it - as long as the group can grow and thrive on their own, his job is done. However, on the other hand, it leaves him with nothing to do... Except for thinking. Serph is doing a lot of it lately.

Right now, Serph is in the Embryon's apartment on Earth 616. He stands near one of the windows, his arms crossed on his chest and his eyes observing the movements on the streets outside. Whatever he's thinking about, it's impossible to figure out on his usual blank expression. It's probably something small, like trying to count people on the streets outside.

(( Open thread. Whoever wants to go poke Serph with anything at all, go ahead and poke him all you want. I'll try to keep the responses going. I'm very sorry for not using him as much as I should. X_X ))

Nexus. Neither Junkyard, nor Nirvana. Something different. Difficult to describe.

Gale, Argilla and Cielo are here. Also, someone named Roland. According to his outfit, he was accepted into the tribe. Argilla says they have a 'romantic relationship'. Unfamiliar term.

Gale adviced to gather informaion and I've followed that advice. Many unfamiliar terms. I'll need to research and memorize all of them for better communication and increased efficiency of the Tribe.

Heat's and Sera's whereabouts are unknown... We must find them. They're comrades. Without them, Embryon is incomplete.
